Issue No. 4

April, 2009

Dear Subscriber,

The industry has been abuzz about the $7.2 billion Broadband Stimulus Package which was recently passed by the Obama administration.  While there have been numerous discussions discussing the implications of this package, there is still much for the NTIA and US Department of Agriculture to define before money will be awarded to contractors.

In celebration of ‘tax day’ here in the US, we invite you to learn more about the Broadband Stimulus at an April 15 webinar, hosted by Telephony.  Key speaker is Tom Cohen, partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Kelley Drye, and a specialist in telecommunications law, will unravel some of the mystery of broadband stimulus funding. He will explain, based on all information available to date, what kinds of projects are likely to be funded, as well as the process involved in obtaining funding.   Broadband Stimulus package

Looking for a new revenue stream?
As competition for customers’ voice, video and data business affects providers’ topline growth, the ability to add new services is becoming increasingly important.  We have seen increasing interest from providers to expand their offering to include more than just voice, video and data services.

In response, we have partnered with Vigilant Technology to help providers offer surveillance services over their existing TLS and DIA networks.

“We are beginning to see growing interest in the service provider community to offer IP-based surveillance as a differentiating service to their broad base of customers. Our partnership with Vigilant allows us to offer a complete solution with the ability to address the unique needs of sending mission-critical video across a public network,” said Steve Curtis, VP of Sales and Service for the Americas.
