Cloud Networking

Cloud services are changing the way we live and work. The wide-ranging promise of the Cloud includes lower capital and operating costs for enterprises, simple global access to information for mobile employees, efficient delivery of streaming video, online retail services and social networking for personal users, secure financial transactions for the investment community, and a game-changing model for businesses to respond quickly and cost-effectively to changes. Cloud services can range from data centers and storage services to access to computing resources and applications. These services are generally identified as IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and SaaS (Software as a Service).

The delivery of these services, however, requires an infrastructure that can support the most stringent SLAs to the cloud and between clouds. Service providers who already own a robust public communications network are in a perfect position to leverage their infrastructure support the stringent requirements of the public Cloud, and offer quality of experience that can be guaranteed as oppose to cloud providers who don’t own the access inftastructre

In order to deliver on the promise, however, the Cloud network needs to be reliable, secure, resilient, and ensure a high quality of experience for the user.

Telco Systems’ carrier Ethernet solutions support both Ethernet and MPLS-based end-to-end business services to deliver Cloud services across a multi-vendor network.

Delivery of services across a public cloud requires some specific characteristics to ensure quality of experience for the end user. Most of these concerns are centered around trust in the integrity of the network and trust that data will be both secure and available.

The Public Cloud must also be able to deliver the required capacity that mobile users are demanding, low latency to ensure very high performance, load balancing to maximize network resources, and service management to ease service creation and performance management across a multi-vendor network.
Focused on carrier requirements for lower cost and higher profits and user requirements for assured services, Telco Systems has incorporated a robust set of features to create a service optimized network which offloads the core by creating a more intelligent, secure, and available infrastructure to the Cloud and between clouds.
  • Hardware-based OAM, HQoS, as well as an RFC 2544 embedded test head enables real time monitoring. Intelligence is distributed among different devices to support service assurance without the need for external intervention and reduce core resources.
  • MPLS to the cloud offers increased security, scalability and resiliency and improved traffic engineering.
  • Bundling MPLS and Ethernet L2-based solution creates a cost effective means for extending MPLS to the edge and supports a unified transport technology (VPLS, MPLS-TP, MAC-VPN…)
  • Service management system creates and refines service delivery end-to-en over 3rd party core equipment using Dynamic Resource Ethernet (DRE) management.
  • Open architecture platform to support best of breed application vendors such as DPI, security, IMS, firewalls, and IPTV, and shorten time to market through assured multi-vendor interoperability.
