Press Releases  07 February 2007MPLS World Congress demonstrates Multi-vendor Multicast and Inter-Carrier MPLS Services EANTC Showcases Advanced Carrier-Class ServicesPARIS, FRANCE – February 7, 2007 – The European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) announced today that 13 vendors featuring more than 35 devices will demonstrate interoperability of advanced MPLS network services at the MPLS World Congress in Paris, France, this week. In a resilient and scalable inter-carrier scenario, IP, Ethernet, ATM and TDM services will be shown across an inter-carrier backbone. In addition, four vendors will demonstrate IP Multicast VPN interoperability. The multi-vendor network supports IPTV, mobile backhaul and business applications. The test event was organized by EANTC in collaboration with the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL). The German service providers T-Systems and Versatel reviewed the test plan and provided on-site support during the hot-stage test at the EANTC lab in Berlin. Participants, of which three are taking part for the first time, include Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco Systems, Foundry Networks, Huawei Technologies, Ixia, MRV Communications, RAD Data Communications, Redback Networks, Rohde & Schwarz SIT, Siemens, Spirent Communications, Telco Systems and ZTE. The public showcase in Paris will also highlight encrypted ATM, TDM, and multi-segment pseudowires over MPLS networks as well as fault management and high-availability solutions. “Previous events have shown that MPLS provides a mature, interoperable family of standards – yet MPLS still advances into new areas,” said Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director of EANTC. “This time we verified inter-carrier MPLS services, where interoperability between operators and devices plays an important role. ” "Inter-carrier interoperability is crucial," agreed Henry He, UNH-IOL senior technologist.
