Telco Systems Announces MEF 9 and 14 Certification - Again
New Metrobility Services Line Card Receives Nod of Approval
FOXBORO, MA — January 6, 2010 — Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC) and a leading provider of Carrier Ethernet access solutions, has announced that its Metrobility R861 service demarcation line card has received MEF 9 and MEF 14 certification in accordance with the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-approved test plans for Ethernet services and traffic management. The MEF certification complements the R861’s standards-based OAM capabilities which include IEEE 802.3ah, 802.1ag CFM and ITU-T Y.1731 for link and connectivity fault management.
MEF certification addresses the interoperability and performance issues confronted by service providers looking to deploy Carrier Ethernet. MEF certification assures the service provider that the equipment complies with MEF specification, reduces complex testing between vendors and establishes a solid foundation for interoperability.
“Flexible bandwidth profiles, CoS based SLA’s, service performance and assured services are key requirements in our customers’ service offerings,” stated Mark Leal, product line manager at Telco Systems. “MEF 9 and 14 certifications complete our commitment to our customers and the market to provide a tested and approved product that can support advanced services.”
MEF 9 defines service attributes such as CE-VLAN ID preservation, multiplexing and bundling, while MEF 14 addresses EVC-related performance including frame delay, frame delay variation, and frame loss ratio, as well as bandwidth profile service.
