The subzero, record-breaking, cold temperatures hitting North America in recent days illustrate the need of communication service providers to prepare to meet all possible scenarios including freezing cold.
So, for example Hurricane Michael in October left large part of Florida’s northwest coast without telephone or Internet service. The lack of these services, in such a time, intensifies frustration among residents, who can’t get in touch with loved ones trying to reach them, and the work crews struggling to bring them relief.
In order to meet the challenge Telco System has developed an Ethernet/MPLS/IP mobile backhaul and business services Network Interface Device (NID) that can operate in extreme weather conditions. The T-Marc 3308/H product can work at hardened temperature of -40°C to 65°C (-4°F to 149°F).
This makes it an ideal device for utilities as it can be installed on traffic lights, trees and other places that are exposed to severe weather conditions.
